In our latest career story, we speak to Nina Ohol, Head of HR Service Delivery and Reward here at Weetabix about her role and the opportunities she’s had over the years, as well as her local charity work.
What’s your role?
I lead a very exciting part of the People Function, the HR Service Delivery and Reward team. I am responsible for the “right first time” delivery of all HR services to employees and line managers. This ranges from advising employees and managers on policies, resolving any queries, to managing the end-to-end people transactional processes.
I work closely with the HR leadership team to execute any people strategy decisions through our processes and systems. I also lead the implementation of the annual processes such as salary review, bonus, and flexible benefits. I love the fact that I get to manage this process and reward people for making ‘The Difference’ at Weetabix.
How long have you been at Weetabix?
I have been at Weetabix for 3.5 years. I was approached for the role, went through the selection process and was successful.
What’s it like to work at Weetabix?
Working at Weetabix is amazing! You can get your teeth sunk in and really start to make a difference where you are. The renumeration is competitive, the opportunities to learn and develop are endless and even the challenging times are made fun by the great teams I work with!
What do you most enjoy about working at Weetabix?
For me, no two days are the same. I could be implementing a system, managing compliance audits, working on benefits, doing root cause analysis, improving processes, training people, planning team building activities, or managing contracts with service providers …all in one week. I enjoy the variety but above all, I enjoy working with a fab fun bunch of people!
What opportunities have you had whilst at Weetabix?
I have had the opportunity to manage Reward; implementing GDPR for HR when it came in to force in 2018 and streamlining our systems and processes. This has given me new skills, built on my existing expertise, and allowed me to develop in areas that were new to me.
Anything you’d like to share with us about your role?
Heading up the HR Service Delivery and Reward team has been challenging but fun. We have been on an exciting journey to improve our service, processes, and systems to enable us to provide an efficient and effective service to our business. This journey is one of continuous improvement as we learn to adapt, change, and innovate as needed.
What do you love doing outside of work?
Outside of work, when I am not walking with my two beautiful children, or reading and dancing with them, or meeting friends, I spend my time on the Board of Directors for our local charitable organisation called the Good Loaf, which provides real employment opportunities for vulnerable local women so that they can break the cycle of poverty, unemployment or offending – this is a cause close to my heart!
