Salt and sugar are added to cereals to aid cooking, texture and taste. The salt and sugar levels of our cereals are regularly monitored to make sure only the minimum amounts are used to give the maximum effect. Weetabix is low in sugar and low in salt and has green traffic light labels for both.
A two biscuit serving of Weetabix contains one fiftieth of a teaspoon of salt (0.1g), only 1.7% of the recommended daily salt intake for healthy adults (6g/day)*. Each Weetabix contains one hundredth of a teaspoon of salt (0.05g), less than 1% of the recommended daily salt intake for healthy adults (6g/day).
A two biscuit serving of Weetabix contains less than half a teaspoon of sugar (1.6g). Each Weetabix contains less than a fifth of a teaspoon of sugar (0.8g).
